Wiccans, why are you so short and condescending with your answers?
I see a question on Wicca, there's always one or two answers that are short and condescending. Usually by people who actually know their stuff when it comes to Wicca.
Yes, I know that most of the questioners are teens who don't really know what they're doing, and I know that Wicca is hardly in need of evangelism, so the whole flies with honey thing serves no purpose.
But do we really need to be so patronising of people who make mistakes or haven't learned better?
Every time I read one of these answers, I have "comic book guy's" voice in my head and it just makes me feel like we're sending the exact impression that people get of us- slobby nerdy people playing dressups.

Really??? I've noticed exactly the opposite. Wiccan's with LOTS of time on their hands to be regulars and answer 50 questions a day with long babbling answers. But I don't think they represent a majority of Wiccans who have a life off the internet. If ya gotta be important here, you're not.

How is it condescending to give a straight answer? To say, "no, that's not true," or, "No, that's not right," or, "you need to do better research"?
Have people gotten that PC and oversensitive that a straight answer that essentially says "incorrect" is taken as some kind of affront?
A short answer that does not reinforce someone's misconception is not rude, it's getting to the point. People are coming here for answers, why can't you just give an opinion straight-forward? Why do you think people should have to coddle them?
The only time I see anyone start to get rude is when these teeny boppers post question after question, clearly not even reading or learning from the other ones- because if they're really coming here to ask questions to learn, then they should actually consider the answers they get (no matter if they like them or not). There's just no excuse for willful ignorance.

"playing Dress up" aimed at Wiccan people?
Have you watched the Christian churches love of robes and ceremony for the the past several centuries, or any of the major Religions for that matter?
complaining about short answers?
there is an old saying along the lines of, Why speak a thousand words when one will do?
People make mistakes regardless of what religion they are, the Trick is to learn from them, Humans in general, just don't .. there are a few smoking large craters around the world that testify to these political mistakes.
some give short answers because they have grown tired of repeating themselves so often to the same pointless ill informed questions over and over again. all are guilty of both sides of that statement.

I dont know what version of Yahoo!Answers youve been visiting, but its clearly not the same one ive been going to.
There are a good number of Wiccans on here who will regularily leave detailed answers averaging about five paragraphs long listing and correctiong any number of misconceptions the asker displays as well as providing fairly compassionate and informative answers to the actual question.
The only truely short, snarky answers I tend to see are from atheist types or from people who just dislike Wiccans.

Maybe you should do a self examination and re-examine your level of confirmation bias. If that checks out all right certainly feel free to post long wordy answers full of love, group hugs, so mote it's and blessed be's to counterbalance the 1 or 2 so-called "condescending" ones :=0

I'm an atheist who has read quite a few Wicca answers. I don't recall short and condescending ones. (shrug)

The people playing dress-up are the ones who get the so-called condescending answers.

They are bitter and angry people. Wicca is one of those faiths that people turn to when they feel weak and powerless. Wicca gives them a sense of confidence and belonging and supernatural influence.
One see the same traits among anti-theists.
