Has Yahoo Answers been taken over politically?

There are a lot of report monkeys on y/a (young people mostly) who get offended so file a report.

That automatically gets the question or answer deleted. This is done by computer. You only get personal attention from a human at yahoo if you appeal the auto-delete.

Lots of crazy people on y/a, we can not expect them all to act like sane, rational, enlightened adults.

Just giving links to other sites isn't allowed here -- never has been. That's been in the Guidelines from the beginning. Did you give a full answer and then add the links in the Source box or did you just post the links as your answer? Something like "Here's your answer. Look at these links: _______" is not considered a valid answer here. Non-answers like that should be reported.

If you gave a full answer and only cited the links as a source, you should probably appeal the deletion. It does not sound like you did that, however, since it was the use of links that got you the violation.

Many people do not understand the rules of this site, inadvertently break them, and then assume it was the content of their question that got it deleted. In your case, I don't think it was the content. It was probably your lack of a real answer.

Lots of things that would be fine on a social site or in a chat room are definitely not ok here, as this is an information exchange site. Because its aim is different, its rules are different. It's really not very wise to agree to something and then not find out what the something really is.

Yes, it is a valid reason for a violation. It's given when it is suspected that you are linking to a personal blog simply to promote it, as opposed to posting a spam link. Which would get your account suspended, instead. If the email has the words "Customer Care" in blue, try clicking them and submit another appeal clearly explaining that you don't own the linked site and it's simply a public reference site. Worked last time for me.

Of course not politics have nothing to d with it your post violated community guidelines which was explained, your post was correctly reported whether you agree or not. If we wish to participate it's the Yahoo way or the highway, the choice is ours.
