    Heartburn/reflux.

Stomach acid effectively causing a chemical burn in the esophagus.

If you are still in hospital, check with the nurses.

If home, cold milk will often soothe the burn.

Bicarb in cold water will also help reduce your stomach acid or there are lots of remedies from the supermarket or chemist, Eno, Gaviscon, Quickeze, ......

That is definitely acid reflux. It can literally take your breath away. When I had it I was frantic because the acid was buring my throat so badly. I couldnt swallow anything. It could be an isolated incident, or it could happen again. If it happens again or you have frequent heartburn and/or sour stomach go to your doctor. You can get on an acid reducing medication.
