should i go university?

in australia, i can get a tafe education, and a apprenticeship of electrician and possibly find a job at oil rigs as a electrician and earn 250k a year. while university graduates earn about 40-80k a year? why should i go uni when this is available ?please answer and discuss

    Because a university education guarantees you that 40-80K a year, every year. What happens if this electrician job falls through or you don't even get it at all? Then you're left with $0K a year. Ultimately, it's like gambling. Take the safe bet or don't. Both have POSSIBLE rewards but only one has something that is somewhat guaranteed.

    If the oil rig as electrician was easy enough to get everyone will go for it. Even I would... If they are paying that much, they will get applicants who graduated from university. Comparing a guy with a degree and a guy without a degree who are they going to choose? Places with lower requirements doesnt mean its easy to get in.

    Going to university and at the same time, work and join a society Will get you alot of opportunities after you graduate.
