Most reputable hosts will move your site(s) for you. Some will charge you for this, but it's well worth the charge if you aren't sure what you are doing.

When looking for a new host, I would suggest that you look for one that performs regular backups, preferably offsite backups. That way, if you crash a site, they can restore it for you. One host I use doesn't charge for backups, but does charge for restoration. Another charges for backups but that includes restorations.

The biggest thing you want to find out about your web host is their customer service.

There are so many choices for hosting these days with prices under $10 a month (even some times under $5). The only thing that really distinguishes them is how they handle things when problems arise and how well does WordPress work with them.

You will find comments in a search about a few of the larger host companies being hard to use if you are running WordPress. Take the time to see what others are saying before jumping at a cheap price.

More importantly how can you get a hold of support and how long does it take for them to deal with problems. Many of the larger hosting companies either have email only support or even if you can get on the phone with someone you will find that you are talking to someone who can do nothing more then enter the information and pass it on to the people who can actually fix the problem.

Make sure you find a hosting company where you can talk to a tech that can fix things.

    I recommend Starrhost

Transferring your website to a new host should not be an issue. I have heard of a few horror stories.. but that was based on choosing a bad host or your name server not being pointed correctly.

When I switched my site over to SiteServing... it was seriously no problem. Everything was quickly moved.. no headaches. I highly recommend them in general.. great support and prices.

    Hope this helps!
