How do i get from Ben Gurion airport to Jerusalem?

Which is the best way to get from the Ben Gurion Airport to Jerusalem ?

A taxi is out of the question as it would be too expensive.

I will arrive at 8pm.

    1. Both taxis and sherut run 24/7 so there is no better or worse. The taxi will take you immediately to your destination. It is approx. $70. While payable in dollars it is better if you change money at the airport and pay in shekels.

The sherut, a vehicle that holds 10 passengers is approx. $10. ( payable also in shekels) You need to wait for the vehicle to fill and then it drops off passengers.

You do not need to book either in advance!

    2. It shouldn't take more than 30-40 minutes if there is no traffic and you go direct from airport to where you are staying. BTW if you are at a hotel are you paying for the previous night or will you let them store your luggage until the 2-3PM check in time?

The sheruts look as if little trucks and once you go out the terminal they are going to be outdoors. in case you want help only ask for Nesher sherut and each body will recognize what you're speaking about. Its really trouble-free to locate.

And why are taxis "too expensive"? (Unless they jacked up the prices since I was there which, admittedly, was 19 years ago.)

There are buses and there are shared taxis. The latter will take you to the door.

    You don't
