Why do some conservatives want to ban abortion, but then?

They also want to ban gay adoption?

Like, obviously- if you want to ban abortion, there will be MILLIONS more unwanted babies.

Are you gonna pay the mothers to keep them? Where are they gonna go? Burden the foster system?

Who will take the kids? I'm not for regulating what happens to a woman's uterus, but it makes sense that if there's gonna be more kids, then gay parents are just what we need to deal with the influx.

What are your thoughts?

Update:

Eh, I get that it's a flimsy argument. I just wanted to spur discussion.

And 99.99999999% of them don't adopt the poor disabled/drug/alcohol/rape babies.

Simple, conservatives don't think and are often extremely selfish people! They want everything their own way.

Why should gay people not be able to adopt? I don't know how anybody would want to deny people who really want a child the right to a child just because they are gay!

You're right, there would be even more children who need adopting and there are already plenty who don't have homes! Isn't it funny though how so many pro "life" people have never adopted any children or plan on adopting any in the future........

There's a million reasons why abortion should *never* be banned and why women should always get to choose! Here in the UK there are conservatives who want the availability of abortion to be drastically restricted and some want it banned! These people are crazy imo and extremists! Having abortion banned would be a complete disaster in so many ways! If people don't like abortion then they should simply never have one themselves. Women should always have the right to choose, to me it would be barbaric if a woman couldn't choose.........

    Well...I'm OK with gay adoption.

But your argument breaks down damn fast if you go look at how hard it is to adopt. There isn't going to be a shortage of willing parents for a LONG time. I was on the waiting list (to get on the real list) for over two years at one point. Of the 20 couples at the first meeting we were the second to last to drop out. There was one left from that group, and I have no idea if they waited it out another 3-5 years and spent the roughly ten grand on it.

I really don't know why you go here. Adopting them out won't be an issue as long a you make it so they can.

FYI: The ones who were drug babies....there are harsh legal issues. The mothers are generally in prison and still have rights that they don't willingly sign over. So you could have the kid for three years and they could get pulled out to go back to a crappy life. I didn't need that merry-go-round.

Why are you under the impression that someone is trying to ban abortion? Are you reading some conspiracy propaganda put out by NOW and Planned Parenthood?

I'm not in favor of abortion, and I know many others who are not either; that's why we're involved with a pregnancy resource center. However, no one is pushing to have it banned today.
