    The spot price of gold right now is $1,754/troy ounce (31.1 grams) in the USA and about GBP1,076/troy ounce in the UK. That's for 24k gold. 9k is about the lowest gold content you can find in jewelry and it's melt-down value is:

    GBP 1,076 x 9/24 = GBP404/troy ounce or GBP13 per gram. A jeweler will likely pay you about 80% of that value.
