Right, so I'm a Pagan, yeah?

Why did a group of Christians just email me to tell me to get out of RnS?

I worship nature. I don't hurt anyone. What's the issue here?

Update:

*phew*

Thanks Zane, I was having an identity crisis.

Update 2:

Person who loves Taylor Swift: Only Christians have to follow the rules of their book. I'm not in your club, why did I get abused by them for not following their rules?

That's a little creepy, if you ask me.

Update 3:

We definitely don't sacrifice animals. Many Pagans are vegan. We love life too much. What God is to Christians, Life is to us. It's sacred. We don't even eat meat without having a "moment of appreciation" for the life that was given.

I have precious pet ratties. I can't even look at a mousetrap without my eyes misting up. Though that's just me...being sensitive...

Update 4:

I wouldn't call that ritual sacrifice though. It *is* a sacrifice, and they do a ritual, but it's more a prayer over the animal they're going to eat for dinner. But I do see what you mean.

Don't worry about it, it's probably just some jerk being a troll. Pagans have just as much right to be here as the next person. I wouldn't give it any thought, really.

That said, some Pagans actually do sacrifice animals, normally in the same sense that Jewish Rabbis oversee the sacrifice of animals through a process called kosher slaughtering. (And, honestly, the same concept occurs in regards to halal slaughtering as well.) Those Pagans who do actively sacrifice typically raise the (food) animals themselves, then humanely prepare the animal for consumption. I wouldn't call it *common* - you normally find it coming from the occasional farm-dwelling Pagan - but it's not unheard of.

And while I think many Pagans would at least theoretically consider a "moment of appreciation" before eating *anything* would be a good idea, I'm not too sure how many of us actually take the time to do so. :-/ Sadly, modern life takes its toll on all of us, and I think that this is (IME) something that's fallen by the wayside for many.

I have no idea. The pagans are normally much nicer than some of the snarky atheists.

They probably do not understand. Pagans have been getting a bad rap for a long time.

Explain that you don't sacrifice small animals , unless you actually do. Small animals are a part of nature but some people think it is okay to kill and eat. Let me extend my apologies for such rude conduct. We need diversity here.

those kinds of christians think they have a monopoly on faith, and are threatened by anyone who's come up with a different answer. just ignore the twits.

    edit:

BTW, some pagans DO sacrifice animals. it's a much more dignified method of slaughter than commercial meat production. we don't destroy the sacrifice, we offer it to the gods, and use what remains. it's much more civilized than that package of ground beef in the supermarket, and it's highly respectful of nature and our role as stewards of the earth.
