Which sewing machine foot is this?
So, I got this old singer sewing machine from my grandma, and I've figured out all the feet that came with it except this one. It has a hole in the middle like a rectangle, and the metal is only on 3 sides of the foot: the back and 2 sides. The front is open. I'll add a pic later hopefully. But does anyone know what foot that is? And also, the machine is "sewing machine 237" if that helps (it's from the manual). Thanks a lot!!!

EDITED TO ADD: looks like an early open toe foot, meant for satin stitch. Here's its modern cousin in action: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5QLCoewcYcs

A photo or two would really help. Are there any grooves on the bottom of the foot? (the bottom of the foot is actually very diagnostic for most sewing machine feet.) It sounds like you've got an open toe foot, but a photo would sure help.
Do you know about this book? http://www.amazon.com/The-Sewing-Machine-Attachmen... and this one: http://www.amazon.com/dp/0312676581/?tag=hyprod-20... ?
