Can there be more to my feeling depressed?

I went into a total meltdown at the end of December 2010. I have no reason why. Nothing new has occured. It just began by not sleeping. Days became weeks. I saw my PCP he put me on Zoloft and increased my Trazodone and put me on clonazapam for anxiety. I have dealt with depression in the past. I first was put on meds for it after my brain surgery 12yrs ago because I was not able to sleep and feeling depressed. That med was Trazodone which I am still on but instead of 100mg its 150mg. I was taking a low dose of Zoloft 25mg these last 7yrs. But all of a sudden this melt down happened. My thyroid is fine and vitamin D. I have been going to couseling. But this feeling wont go away. I started to see a naturalpathic. He put be on B12 which he will test my blood to see if it increases. He also has given me natural supplement to increase my serotonin. The urine test he had me do showed I was very low in Serotonin. He says its okay to still take my other meds, I hope that is true? I am going to have my hormones tested. But is there anything that I am missing? Anything with the brain surgery. Tumor was removed and it was benign. I cry on and off, not motivated, have to push myself to do activities. I just dont understand why did it hit me this way. I dont remember being depressed this long. Any advice would be great.

    1. Food allergies are to be tested #1. If you are eating allergens the meds will not work.

    2. Are you female? Do symptoms get worse after ovulation? Does your mood improve a few days after your cycle ends?

    3. If female, your vitamin D drops as a secondary mechanism to low and free circulating levels of estrogen.

    4. If you have premenstrual aggravation, then 300 mg Lithium Carbonate (a very low amount)

will keep vitamin D levels in the blood high.

Whatever you do, don't go off the meds your doctors prescribed you. Keep taking those. They help. Maybe you need to go on a higher dose. Things will get better, have faith. I have depression too for no reason. What helps me is to listen to music everyday and keep a song in my head throughout the day. Keep up with new music and watch videos on youtube. you have to do things that will make you happy. Antidepressants and vitamins are just part of healing and recovery. I don't know if the tumour affected your brain and caused the depression but either way do stuff to get out of your funk. Go see movies. Listen to musics. Read books you're interested in by either downloading them free frm a sharing site or from amazon. Or go to school if you're not and make new friends if you don't have any friends now or if you lost them over time. Being around people who talk a lot but listen too and are funloving and don't mind having you around really makes you feel better. Do it! And watch this video :

Remember you're beautiful and you have to make your life worth living because most people aren't going to do that for you. So do these things even if you don't feel like it. Also eat healthy meals and regularly but monitor your weight, exercise - at least 30 mins of cardio a day lifts depression and do things to enjoy yourself. Make yourself feel motivated. Don't waste it feeling down. You only get one life and once time is gone you can't get it back so don't waste it.
