Most Expensive Cities in the World? Sydney is Australia's most expensive city, however before you Melburnians?

The 10 most expensive cities are:
Zurich (Switzerland)
Tokyo (Japan)
Geneva (Switzerland)
Osaka Kobe (Japan)
Oslo (Norway)
Paris (France)
Sydney (Australia)
Melbourne (Australia)
Singapore
Frankfurt (Germany)
The 10 least expensive cities are:

As these figures use USD as their base Sydney & Melbourne have risen dramatically with the appreciation of the AUD vs the USD. When the AUD bought 40 US cents some years back our cities were judged some of the best value cities to live in. So the increase is dur the the weakness in the US dollar and economy.
Stamp duty on a 500k house in NSW is around 20k, there is no GST payable on the purchase price
Looking at your list of least expensive, who would want to live in them

In Sydney you are able to benefit from the normal beauty. From unspoilt beaches to public gardens and, of course, the shining harbour, Sydney is just a city worth visited and with hotelbye you will have the opportunity to do that. The Sydney Harbour Bridge or "Coathanger," because the residents contact it's among the areas you ought not miss in your trip here. That place was the city's best-known landmark prior to structure of the Opera House. Reinforced by enormous double piers at each end, it was built-in 1932 and remains the world's greatest steel posture link, joining the harbour's north and south shores in one curve rising 134 metros over the water. Along its period work two railway lines and seven lanes for street traffic, the way of which may be varied in accordance with traffic flow. Also, to master about the fascinating history of the bridge's construction you can go to the memorial in the south-eastern pier.

And I saw that Adelaide, Brisbane and Perth got an honourary mention too. And it costs almost 50% more to live in Melbourne than New York. So now we know what to answer when the next American daydreamer comes to this section and says they want to move to Australia. Still, I'd rather live where I am than in Zurich or Karachi.
