Who gets the job of naming cyclones ?

The World Meteorological Organisation (WMO) has compelled the lists since 1953. Names of those tropical cyclones that prove exceptionally destructive, such as "Katrina", are retired.

And they start at the beginning of the cyclone season with a name that begins with A then move through the alphabet for each one.

they have a rotating list they must choose from. lots of meteorology sites to give the list. 104 names. my husband was a ballistic meteorologist for the marines.
