daughter having allot of time off school?

my nine year old has missed allot of time off school.im really worried im going to get a fine or even worse.i live in the uk and don't know what the procedure is.she has been off for genuine reasons and im guessing her attendance will be a very low 80%.she had all last week off with a skin virus which the doctor diagnosed and is now off today with a vomiting virus.i actually went into school last week to ask for some work for her to do at home which they never sent.she will be back at school tomorrow but im sick with worry.can anyone give me advice please.i intend to make sure her attendance gets better but im worried she will become ill again and they may take proceedings against me.i pray she doesn't get ill again because i cannot and will not send her to school ill.

Don't worry, it needs to be less than 80% before they do anything, then they send you a letter warning you, then the education authority are notified. My sister got really low attendance (she has immunodeficiency so she gets really bad illness every time there's even so much as a cold going around) but they never did anything. They told us they'd been notified, we gave a valid GP letter, and all was honkey dorey. Dead simple :)

Oh yeah - you'd need to make sure the school was notified, so that it's authorised.

I'm in the USA, so things may be different here, but most schools allow 20 excused and unexcused absences. If your daughter is seriously sick however, you'll have to keep talking to the school, and show them your genuine concern for your daughter. See if they have resources like private tutors, so that even when your daughter gets sick again, she can keep up with the material.

Go to school and talk with the principal or her teacher and tel them the situation .

They don't want her at school sick - but if they do not know what is going on - they will think she is skipping school.

Take Dr. visit notes and/or reports - to document her illness.

Most schools will send work by computer now - so she can keep up with her class -

Communicating is the best thing to do --

if you're daughter is genuinely sick and the doctor can back you up then nobody can say anything but if she has unauthorised time off then they can take you to court.

I am so glad to see that grammar and punctuation issues aren't just a problem in the U.S.
