Downside to a Gaming PC for personal use?
What is the downside to a gaming PC for personal use?
I want to use a gaming PC for multimedia purposes such as, making videos, photo editing, and graphics design.
I also want to use it for college, such as reports, and power-point (MSO).
I also need internet access.
Are there any downsides to a gaming PC besides cost. Such as software, or function.

well, if the PC is excellent for gaming, then basically it would be excellent for everything else. If you are planning to use it for many purposes, the only thing you could increase is the RAM, but a good gaming PC usually has 8 gb of RAM which I can say is plentiful already.

A gaming PC can do anything that any other PC can, and more. It's basically just a normal PC that has a fast processor, plenty of memory and a beefy graphics card in it. Other items such as hard drives might also be chosen for performance.

The only difference between a 'gaming' computer and other computers is the fact that a gaming computer has the ability to run games as well as do everything else well.
Generally, this means that it has fairly high end specs, which is not uncommon when you check out the pre-built computers that are on the market, but as well as that, it has a beefy graphics card in it to be able to handle graphically intensive games.
There is no downside to having a great video card in your machine.

There is no downside at all... The reason "Gaming" PC's are built is to handle the load of the game. This same load carrying system can be used effectively well as a Multimedia unit or Personal Computer.

If you have a good processor and RAM then everything should run fine like Microsoft Word or Internet for example... So not really. The upside is that you play games pretty fast I guess, haha.
