Why do people assume UFO's always refers to ETs?

Since Orsen Welles radio broadcast of "War Of The World's" aired over CBS on October 30th 1938, people have equated UFO's with ET' aliens bent on conquering the Earth after killing off the entire human race.

I was a nine-month-old baby at the time and my parents relate the story; That they were driving from Washington, Pennsyvania to Pittsburgh on US Route #19 that Sunday evening listening to Jack Benny on the car radio. They recall other motorists as driving a bit erratic and crazy at that time.

I always thought it was a good thing my parents listened to Jack Benny, as my dad might have driven the car into a ditch.

Yeah, but when most people report a UFO, they are thinking ET. People who don't think that way call it "a really weird light in the sky" or 'an odd airplane". It's the crazies who have co-opted UFO to mean spaceship.

I'm not sure...let me call up my buddy who's an expert on people who assume things about UFOs.

people are stupid.. And if they are not, they want to be stupid. they always want to believe somthing that is not true no matter what.
