Black Lab Puppy throwing up?

So I've got a puppy today. He's a rescue, got him from my cousin. He's 8 weeks old and is a black lab. I'm sitting at my grandmas house, we'll be here for a few more hours before we leave. We didn't have any dog food, so we fed him some chicken and ham, thinking it shouldn't be to bad, as we had to give him his worm medicene anyways. We fed him abou an hour ago, and now he's vomitting everywhere. He'd vomit and heave alot, then walk around for about 5 minutes and start again. I think he's finally done, but I'm worried if we feed him to give him the rest of his worm meds he might start to vomit again. We do not have a car to go get food right now, my dad has it. Is there something we can feed him? And also, we have an 8 hour car ride home, is there something we should do to prepare him? I was thinking of letting him sleep in the bck seat with me.

    hi! I love labrador =)

Was the ham too salty? I hope you didn't feed him chicken bone either. Chicken bones are harmful to dogs because they cannot digest the bones. I would stop feeding him till the next day. Let his stomach get some rest. He will be alright =) When my dog (cream lab) vomit, we didn't give her any food for two days. But, always keep water available.

I wouldn't give him any human food because he is suppose to eat only his dog food, since most of the time our foods are too salty for dog to handle. Also he may refuse to eat his own food, because ours are more delicious (although this rarely happen to lab).

If he continue to vomit I would take him to a vet. Also, don't let him run too wildly, in fact don't exercise him 1 to 2 hours before and after every meal, because that might cause twisted stomach that is very deadly in dogs. This happens more often to big dogs, than small dogs.

One tip! You must train the dog at early age like around 3 to 4 months old. Labradors are not aggressive like some of the other breeds. It, however, may rampage through the house, and destroy a lot of things (they are very smart too)!

My parents' friend gave us our lab and they kept one. We had someone to train her, but their friends' dog didn't success, because they didn't follow the rules. I have heard that they gave the dog away, because they couldn't handle the dog anymore. He ran into a shelf with glass doors and of course broke it =(

If trained properly, lab can be very nice and careful with things around the house. My dog never break anything in the house, or tease any of the small pets.

Last week I was looking at her (my dog) puppy pictures and realize that she never get angry for a second. Everyday, she's happy and loving! I believe this is just how labs are =)

    Good luck!

Ok in the past year has she put on weight? if so put her on a diet. may dog food maker make a senior diet. Keeping weight down will help. Now Many people suggest glucosimine and condalotramine. I will also suggest MSM too. If in pain etodulac is a good med to start with. Also I must also say she is getting up in age and some of what you are seeing are signs of aging and loss of ability. Or loss of her quality of life. This is said not to criticize you or anything you may have done. Just the reverse. You have given her a good life. Just start to prepare yourself the she may be at the end of her time. Give her all the love you can and continue to do what you re doing. Never give up on her. But if her quality of life is rapidly diminishing please dont let her suffer. I had to do the hardest thing 5 months ago when My best friend of only 7 years came down with bone cancer. She had a young spirit and yet her pain was more than I could bare. Even though she was a fighter, I had to let her go. So if the time comes, be there for her and let her know how much you love her. If there is anything else please email me.

He is probably excited and scared and the richness of the food (especially the ham) was probably too much for him and he vomited. I would not feed him again until you get him home and then I would feed him the same kind of food he ate at your cousins. Make sure he has enough water and doesn't get dehydrated.
