State of Origin V Premiership?

which do you think is more important.?

I get a little bored with the footy programmes only talking about state of origin, I believe at the end of the day the premiership is the ultimate.

State Of Origin is more attractive for the public, because you know that two teams will play. The Premiership is an unknown two teams that play. Drop City Country, as The NRL are meant to be impartial, otherwise they need to introduce City Country for Qld Teams- otherwise scrap it.

NRL Premiership fits in brilliant with The AFL Premiership on the Saturday, The balance has to be maintained for all the codes. State of Origin is better because there are three matches, which gives it that element of being an "event".

@ Nate: Fantastic comment, however this is not America. The players all aspire to be selected for The state of origin. The clubs maybe disadvantaged as you state, However this allows emerging players the ability to perform, which is how rookies cement there position over returning representative players- Baby Broncos for example. I'm happy with the format and it's positioning within the calendar. The NRL had to consider the length of the season, and the end of year events after October. We can't have it both ways!!!

They have been talking about SOO in stand alone weekends and for the ANZAC test and city country on a weekend (test on Friday night and city/country on Sunday arvo) with NO club footy on that weekend. They are looking at something similar for SOO. The biggest concern is that this would give a free hand up for rugby and AFL in NSW and Qld if there was no club footy. For the test and city game, nothing for league at all on Saturday. Free hits for the other codes.

We need the continuity of club football. Without the ongoing competition of club football we are letting fans and players not involved in Origin down. Teams are disadvantaged with Origin with the Storm and Dragons being the worst affected but there are sixteen teams in the comp with Gallop saying on air today he was looking at bringing the number up to 20. Then he talks about free weekends for rep games. The player burnout has been around since Origin started and before. In the days when internationals were true tests, these games were played on a Saturday with a full club round on Sunday.

Premiership! I believe if there wasn't the Premiership competition, there would not be a State of Origin. Even though it's club footy, it's definitely the most important. :D

I really don't see what all the nonsense is about. The only scheduling complaint I can come up with is the existence of Monday night games. Wednesday works for SOO, Fridays for tests (and NSW's city-country).

The clubs can't have their cake and eat it too. By recruiting quality players to get a decent team, you have to expect them to be called upon for rep duty, it's just the way it is.

    State of Origin.

It takes the BEST players from each team, and they verse each other.

SOO is the best of rugby league

enable's substitute a word the actual assets brokers use while attempting to promote assets. somewhat of 'area, area, area' the Rugby League version must be 'publicity, publicity, publicity'. i like the belief of having those fits a lead-ins to the QLD v NSW SOO or related some thank you to the 4 international locations series. i'm undecided, simply by fact I stay in the U. S., what comes on television down below beforehand of the SOO or 4 international locations announces yet i'm surprisingly specific you ought to grant it a attempt (no pun meant). i became additionally questioning State of beginning place smart - what a pair of NZ vs VIC tournament or 2. undecided what number VIC born gamers there are in League or have their mom and father or grandparents born in VIC!, even yet it might seem fairly of a organic component to do. That way you will possibly have all 4 components of the NRL coated. looks somewhat unusual that NZ and VIC are saved out of a SOO variety contest whilst QLD & NSW are having a go at one yet another.

Of course the premiership is more important. SOO is only for hogging talent from the pacific islands (e.g. Uate from fiji)

Obviously Australia thinks the State of Origin is more important because it is willing to disadvantage teams by taking star players away during the season. This concept is unprofessional and ridiculous and would never happen in the NFL for example where totally equality during the season is boss. The NFL play their all-star game at the end of the year so it don't disrupt the regular season and you can also compile all of a players stats and truly pick the top performers of the year.

The NRL needs to learn how to run a professional competition. A second chance in the play-offs is just as dumb...it defeats the purpose of the word play-off..but don't get me started!!

@Kate...you really think a second chance in the play-offs is a good thing?? I'm sorry but I like my play-off games to be intense with the season on the line, high stakes equal passion & intensity...not a pointless contest where one team knows that win or lose they are still in the running..that's not play-off second level football, I don't know what you would call that!!! It's dumb and unprofessional but if you like that..it's your choice
