Failed Stop for School Bus!?

Okay so I just feel like the worst person right now. It is completely out of my nature to do something like this.

So I was driving and there was this school bus that had its lights flashing. I'm not sure how long it was flashing for but the cars in front of me were not stopping. The Stop sign on the bus was not out so I assumed thats the reason why everyone else was not stopping. On the other side of the bus, there was a cop and he pulled me over for not stopping. I know that it was my fault for misunderstanding that violation.

So I believe I was located either in La Habra, Ca or Fullerton, Ca, and I was wondering what the price of the ticket wouldbe. I did some research and found out that I could ask the judge to remove the penalty assessments to reduce the price alot. Also, this is my first ticket so I was wondering if there might be some what of a leeway but I completely understand if there isn't.

Another thing I was wondering about the process was what to do. I got the ticket today and was hoping to go to court tomorrow to deal with the ticket. I'm hoping to talk to the judge to reduce the price of the ticket. After, I believe I go to traffic school so that I don't get the point on my license. Does this mean that If I attend traffic school, then my insurance would not go up?

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. I feel really bad about this ticket and I never had any intention of hurting anyone. Thank you

    Hi,

    We all make mistakes.

I was wondering what the price of the ticket wouldbe.

~ Most courts have a website that you can pull up your fees by your ciation or drivers license number.

~ Very slim chance but the courts traffic violation page FAQ's will be a great site to look for info.

After, I believe I go to traffic school so that I don't get the point on my license. Does this mean that If I attend traffic school, then my insurance would not go up?

~ Yes you are correct HOWEVER you need to get the courts ok 1st to take a class

    Best of luck

If your "large" road had two or more lanes of traffic in each direction, then you were not required to stop. (Veh C 22454(b).) The scheduled fine for violating Veh C 22454 is $680, so if you are being charged $754 it would appear that whatever additional assessments your county is permitted to make have already been assessed. With that high a fine, it may be worth your while to go to court and ask if the fine can be reduced (note that the fine itself is only $150--the rest is various state and county assessments). In any case, you will probably want to go to traffic school to avoid the DMV point and any insurance consequences. That will add $50 plus the cost of the school.

I am a school bus driver. You did not say if the yellow or the red lights were flashing. If it were the yellow lights fight the ticket. You shouldn't have gotten it. If it were red lights pay the fine and don't do it again

some school buses do not have the stop sign especially older buses like the crowns

they only had red lights if the lights are flash STOP DO NOT GO just because

the bus doesn't have stop sign you still have to stop and you can not use that as excuse

judge the bus did not have its stop sign our

officer your honor the bus is a crown type of bus these buses do no have stop sign

judge GUILTY PLEASE PAY THE CLERK
