A dollar went a lot farther back then, but that doesn't mean it was cheap. They had to do the same amount of work in worse conditions for less money.. It does kinda upset me though that my grandparents' house and land was so cheap when they bought it and now it's easily worth half a million dollars. I'll probably never have anything nice like that cuz it's all too expensive. And we probably won't be able to retire either.

Psh YES. We of generation Y in the US have a lot to complain about. We're the only generation where the most college graduates are unemployed and have trouble finding jobs. I mean we have people with Masters degrees who can't find a job...that's just crazy! Even USA Today stated that because of the mistakes of the "baby boomer" generation, generation Y has a more difficult future. The public education system REALLY sucks right now, the economy sucks, and college is much MUCH more difficult than before. I mean sure generation Y has it easy as in we have everything available to us...but our job security, money, and future is unpredictable compared to all the past generations... ESPECIALLY because the US is going down pretty fast.

I don't know if it can be easily generalized like that. There are people who've always had to struggle regardless of generation and still do. I will say from the Baby Boomers and on there has been a larger wealth of opportunity for people readily at their disposal, whether or not some people have/had it easy is debatable.

My parents gave birth to the "baby boomers". I am #3 of the 7 my parents had that survived. Had they known about the RH factor earlier, I would have had 2 sets of twins and another brother and sister to contend with when I was growing up. Cheap and easy is a wrong thing to assume; life was NOT cheap and easy, but hard and the parents tried to shield their kids from the hardships. Being shielded from the hardship meant that these kids felt "entitled" to something they had to EARN instead of being GIVEN. There is a big difference between being entitled and earning your own way.

No generation has it easy, just different. Boomers worked hard for their money. I'm seeing a lot of Y-gen expecting everything to be handed to them. I'm an X-er and we all seem to be struggling to hang onto what we have. IMHO

infant Boomers grew up in a distinct time the position reality mattered. The GenXers (a minimum of the more youthful ones) were presented up being instructed that they are particular and no one is more desirable suited than all and sundry else. They stopped preserving score at their carrying video games. They were instructed they were owed something. they don't realize that you frequently ought to start up on the bottom and paintings your way up. they imagine slightly of paper from a school ability they do no longer ought to pay any dues contained in the position of work. They weren't taught the fee of saving and residing under their ability. They stay paycheck to paycheck. it really is not any longer that they are not making adequate funds, they are in basic terms spending too a lot. i might want to ought to split up the GenX technology in 1/2. those who graduated as a lot because the mid Eighteen Eighties look ok. the international hadn't fairly yet lengthy gone mad. human beings were allowed to apply elementary experience. The stupid "0 tolerance" rules weren't mainstream in basic terms yet. regrettably, contained in the previous due 80's the stupidity began. colleges might want to no longer have valedictorians because it would make some little ones experience undesirable about themselves. instructors were inspired to no longer use purple pens to mark incorrect solutions because it changed into in basic terms too propose. mom and father began backing their little ones even at the same time as they were incorrect really of punishing them and education them excellent from incorrect. .
