Can someone please access the Australia Death Index, 1787-1985 for me please?

I'm trying to find information about the death of Milton Robert Slatter born 27 may 1923 in Warialda NSW. He married Elsie May Lockyer in Armidale NSW in 1949.

Ancestry.com state he died in 1979 but I can't get more details without access to the Australia Death Index. I'm after information for a family member on where, date, reg. number and any other details about his death. Any information would be appreciated.

    This is as much as I can find on ancestry.com. Can you request a death certificate?

    They don't keep records in Australia as early as 1787 sorry.
