In order to watch a movie that you friend put on that hard drive, you only need to access it just like you would your normal hard drive. Go to your start menu and select 'My Computer'. Next to your hard drive (C:) you should see the external drive. Double click on it. Then you have to find the movie files. If you can't view the files by simply double clicking on them, then they are most likely in a file format that your computer doesn't recognize. In which case you would need to install one or two things. The first thing would be a different media player. The second would be a set of working codecs. A codec is a file that will help your media player to read files that were encoded with a certain codec. For these I would recommend the 'K-Lite Mega Codec Pack' and the media player that goes with it is called ' Media Player Classic'. They are very easy to install and to use. I use them myself and have no problems with them at all. Best wishes and good luck!

It really only depends on the file type the movies are. If they are *.flv, google "flash movie player" or something of that nature. It is also possible they are stored as DVD images (like *.iso for example). If this is the case, you will need to get something like Daemon tools to mount the image.

    HI.

You may find you can play some files with players you already have ie media player.

But if you are after a player that doze the lot then VLC player is a good one to go for.
