Watch the Movie 'CONTACT' (again if you've seen it) with Jodie Foster... In the scene where Jodie is about to go into Space, and a Priest (Matthew McConnaughey) tries to convince her not to go... Does this scene change your view of what Faith is?
I think every is missing my point...
I'm just asking about 1 scene...
Situation:
In the movie... a 'message' from an unknown source comes down from space. We decipher it, it's instructions to build a space ship... we follow it... unsure if it will work...
Now how many of you 'scientists' will hop into that space ship to see what it does?

I'm not going to go watch a whole movie because you were fooled by some equivocation.
You realize that science fiction =/= scientific naturalism, right? Just making sure.
You know that scene in Star Wars, where Luke is training with the light saber and that spherical robot is shooting tiny blaster shots at him. Han is skeptical about the Force existing, but Luke, who hadn't heard of the Force more than a day or two earlier admonishes him. And then when he was able to block the shots with the blaster shield down, he could almost see it! Did that change your view on what force is? Because I'm trying my hardest to force myself not to ridicule you.

What is a scientific atheist? The contact movie did not change my opinion on faith at all and the movie was complete rubbish.

Wow .... you use a movie to decide on your view of faith? Does that mean if you watch Pokemon you will believe evolution means a light shines and you become another creature?

Watch the movie Religulous. Now watch it again. Keep watching until you stop believing in magic bearded sky man.

Nope. Faith is still belief without evidence. Always has been, always will be.
And "Contact" really sucked. Pick a better movie next time.

If that horrible film changes your view of the world, you are a LOT more gullible and pathetic than if you at least get mind-raped by your family in to theism.
