why take photos of cuts?

I used to take pictures of them, but I never posted them online or showed them to anyone. Cutting to me is a very personal and private thing. Maybe the people who post the pictures online are proud of their cuts? Like an accomplishment? Or maybe they're just trying to share the pictures with like-minded people? It's hard to tell. Some do it for attention. But...to each his own I guess.

I've known alot of cutters and being one myself, I can say that I would never post online pictures of them. I've always kept my cutting secret. On the other hand, there are some cutters who aren't ashamed of how they express their pain and are willing to share it with others.

And btw Lilith, you are an ignorant moron. You didn't even answer the question, all you wanted to do was be a drama queen and insult the question asker about their cutting. Why don't you shut the hell up and go have your b-!-t-c-h fit somewhere else.

Bronnii. I am so sorry for offending you. I dont know what it is like to have something that horrible happen. I wasnt trying to tell anyone to forgive, it is only a suggestion. I know what it is like to be hurt by people, but I let go. Its one of the most difficult things to do of course, but it releases that pain and anger inside to some degree. It is all a matter of personal belief. If that happened to me, I cant say what I would do or feel. You are right. From my heart, I am very sorry for upsetting you.

I think I know what you're talking about, I just answered someone that had a picture of their arm covered with cuts...and to me that's attention-seeking behaviour from people that don't have the authority to put them in crisis centers. They're not afraid to put it on the internet, they enjoy the thrill of "Oh, look what I did!" I don't know....I don't understand why anyone would do that.

There's a myth out there that anyone who shows their cuts isn't truly suffering or struggling with the habit...it isn't true though. Some people make their cuts visible as a conscious or even unconscious cry for help.

I think you are cutting yourself because you are too mad and you know no other way to discharge your nerves. This is not a passion to you. You are too mad and too upset.

I also wanted to tell you that everybody deserves to be loved no matter what are the mistakes done by that person because who can really tell the value of a human being? Nobody . It is too big.

Remember that you don't get it. And when you post about being a cutter know that most people don't "get" you either.

They are both pretty stupid in my book. But, then again, I don't feel the need for drama of any sort.

Well ive photographed mine but never posted them anywhere. I doit as a reminder so that when i have recovered fully i can look back and say "i never want to do that to myself again its shocking"

Some people do it as a way of telling people they need help.
