They were originally in for 2018 but FIFA has already said that's going to Europe, probably England. Oz then withdrew their bid early because of this and FIFA has said that if they went in for 2022 Australias co-operation would be duly taken into account. So it looks like it'll likely be 2022.

Oz would put on a great show I reckon. Pity the matches will be shown at god knows what time in the morning in Europe.

  • I would think 2022. 2018 should come to England, so Australia could get 2022. The ******* USA think they have a right to 2018, them being the ****s they are, but why should they be granted 2018 when that would only be 24 years after they hosted it before? Mexico may have hosted the World Cup in 1970 and 1986, but 1986 was an accident. 1986 was meant to go to Colombia, just that Colombia had funding issues and they needed to find someone quick. England 2018 and Australia 2022.

I think Aus would do a great job, but their global position IS an issue. No one has a right to host it.

The reason I say that is everyone knows FIFA are interested S.O.L.E.L.Y. in money, and if the viewing figures are going to be well down in massive TV markets like Europe then sponsors aren't going pay full whack and that could well be a deciding factor.

Good luck though. I think your main rivals are Qatar, aren't they.

Australia would be a wonderful place to have it, there are plenty of places to visit for the fans between games, but step may be right about their global position affecting the decision.
