frayed electrical cord dream?

yesterday I was talking to one of my long-time friends at work about the new business I am starting. The talk turned towards our respective marriages and how we are both breaking out of our shells so to speak. Becoming less dependent on our husbands, etc. She said she noticed that just within the last year I have made some amazing transformations as far as being self-confident and such. Anyways....last night I had a dream that there was an extension cord in the back of my car. I opened the door up and the cord was all frayed and worn, as if it had been caught in the door frame. Ready to break. and then I woke up.

Normally I would chalk this up as just a simple dream, but after the conversation I had with my workmate, I am wondering if this has another meaning? Any thoughts? Am I simply a bit crazy? GRINS.

Your dream is the psychological recognition that something important is frayed and damaged, and that it may fracture with potentially devastating consequences.

This could mean anything from the recognition that your home wiring or apartment has a hazard which requires attention, to your recognition that if your marriage does not grow with you, that it may fray and disintegrate.

Remember that dreams are often an exaggeration in dramatic form of a psychological truth.

    Best wishes.

let me answer the last question first.

are you a bit crazy? yes, of course you are, but that's a GOOD thing.

(a little crazy is ok, a lot crazy is not ok.)

    regarding dreams:

I am of the opinion that dreams come in 3 types. there is the prophetic 'Vision' dream (which is extremely rare,) the generic 'entertainment' dream, (which is the most common) and the 'Symbolic' dream, which is your subconscious trying to get an idea across to your conscious, waking mind.

Sometimes you will awake from a dream with a sense that what you dreamed was important. when this is the case, it is most likely a Symbolic dream.

so, on to my jungian (symbols are personal, not generic) dream interpretation

Let me pull some the words from your post:

from the conversation to which you relate this dream:

"our respective marriages and how we are both breaking"

"Becoming less dependent on our husbands,"

"I have made some amazing transformations"

from your description of the dream:

"An extension" which was "all frayed and worn...ready to break"

I find the word extension interesting because a lot of married people consider their mate to be an extension of themselves.

Simply put, it sounds like your subconscious is afraid that because your life is focusing on the changes you are going through, you could be neglecting your spouse (extension) by leaving him in "the back" and your subconscious is afraid that this could lead to a marriage breakup.

cord could also refer to a child, but either way its family.

Your subconcious is telling you to pay attention to your family.

Yeah it can be just simple dream. But since the dream is still in you r head...lets see what it is.

Myeb you are extending the cord too much, extending away from your hubby too much with your buisness. As a consequence the cord may break, that is your marriage may break.

Now is this good or bad ? Depends on you.If you want your present husband it is bad.If you do not like your present husband, this is good news. Now you can be free from him.If you like your husband and think he is good for you, do not get involved in your business so much that you become too independent and eventually too isolated from him, thus ending your marriage.
