How to solve sleeping issues?

I have absolutely no trouble falling asleep, but invariably I wake up around 2-3 am every single morning. I am dead tired still, but it's as if my mind suddenly switches on and I can't get back to sleep. I have tried melatonin, warm baths, prayer, reading, a small glass of wine, everything I can think of. It is starting to affect my thought processes and normal waking moments.

I really don't want to become dependent on sleep medicine, but if it doesn't resolve itself soon, I may have to. Thanks for any hints!

Non-habit forming Lunesta works for me. It's a sleep aid but if your quality of sleep is effecting your daytime life now, it could effect your health, as well, in time. Speak to your doctor and hear her/his thoughts. Sleep issues can start out small and get serious. You may have the beginnings of Sleep Apnea and should have that evaluated.

Self hypnosis: Snuggle in the covers in an exaggerated fashion, tell yourself you're in your warm, cozy nest and you could sleep forever... I also listen to rain sounds on my Verilux natural alarm clock and it makes falling back to sleep a nice experience.

It's a little on the expensive side, but the stuff really works. I got it at my local pharmacy and I've been sleeping great ever since. It's called Dormistat, http://www.dormistat.com/

If you wake up in the middle of the night then just watch TV or go on the xbox or something till you get tired.

Or just stay up until you sleep when you normally do then you will probably stay asleep for the night.

Do hard labor during the day, helps you sleep at night, and don't take after-noon naps
