60th anniversary cake ideas?
I am going to make a 60th anniversary cake for about 80 people, but I really don't have any ideas what to do. The couple has no preference as to decorating. I am thinking of white buttercream tiers with a dark lavender cascade of roses coming down. (there is a lavender rose called the "Diamond Jubilee" rose)
Since it is the "diamond" anniversary, I would like to add some glitz to it. I have seen some edible diamonds online that look really pretty and I am thinking of placing them around the border of the tiers. Any other ideas that come to mind?

Diamond idea is great, go on with that. But, write diamond anniversary on the cake somewhere. And I was thinking, IF the couple is cheerful and open enough for humor, draw two chatter teeth toy on either sides?
Or a classic wedding photo on the white background will do too.

On my 60th wedding anniversary I would like a picture of my mate and I when we were courting. with all the families pictures around it.....Ours in the middle and the others formed around it. Or I would like for the family to go together and rend a big cabin by a water fall and lake, and go boating. If any of them are musically inclined, in the evening we could sing, laugh, talk and have a great time. Or the family rent a house boat and go water skiing. The kids would love this. Or have each family member, kids included, to write a letter telling grandma and grandpa what they mean to them and put it in a book form with their picture beside it.\ Grandma and grandpa should write their life story to give to each family member. Or, on poster paper, put grandma and grandpa's courting picture in the middle with, each family members picture in the middle of a hand made star with sparkle on the star. put it on dark blue poster-paper, like stars in the sky. Or each could give them a gift certificate to the place they like to eat. Just some ideas.
