reasonably priced travel between Stansted and Newcastle upon Tyne?

Arriving at Stansted from Australia mid-May, need to get up to Newcastle.

Last time we came over, we went via Heathrow and caught the train up via GNR which was dirt cheap on advance purchase.

I can't seem to find cheap train fares from Stansted?? Anyone got any ideas on train travel OR other cut price transport North?

cheers, Chloe.

Firstly GNER is now East Coast Trains www.eastcoast.co.uk. It is not correct that trains from Stansted only go to London. You can reach Newcastle from Stansted by changing at Peterborough; this service runs every hour. You should be able to purchase cheap advance purchase fares. Try the East Coast website

cheapest will no doubt be by bus/coach (try National Express, Megabus, Stagecoach and so on)

theres no direct trains from Stanstead going anywhere significnat other than London, so you will have to change at London.

try a site such as thetrainline.com

however it may be cheaper to get a ticket from Stansted to London, and then get the best deal possible on the GNER route from GNER themselves
