What language do you dream in?

Some of my friends speak multiple languages fluently and they told me they dream in multiple languages, that it just depends on what is going on in there dream, or if they are speaking to someone. I wonder if we all think in the same "language".

Update:

...yes....I did see that study done on crying infants and how there crying mimicked there mothers language. Interesting as well!

Well I clearly think in English words...

Nonetheless, I've heard similar things from bilingual people, especially people whose native language is not English or who have lived in another country. They often tell me that the language of their dreams depends on who is in it-- if it's someone they had known in say, Korea, then the dream will be in Korean rather than English. I've also heard, from working with foreign exchange students, that you know you've really attained proficiency in another language when you have dreams in it. They say that once they begin to dream in English, they feel like it has really "clicked" in their minds, so to speak.

Now, you've also hit upon something interesting in musing over whether or not we all think in the same language. It might interest you to know that, throughout history, others have tried to devise whether there is a "natural language" that is intrinsic to mankind. Some have even gone so far as to have their children raised by mutes in order to see what language they speak. There was a certain English king who did this (I forget which one exactly). It is said that his son was brought before him at the age of seven, having been raised by mutes since birth, and he spoke something that sounded like Hebrew. Of course, I don't believe this, as similar experiments have been carried out and have resulted in the children actually losing their ability to speak and a great deal of their ability to understand language if it is not acquired before a certain age.

Mostly in English, despite the fact that there may be little or no talking of that form in my desires. My desires the communications is extra non secular I wager. LOL. While I used to be in Arabic elegance (6 hours an afternoon, five days every week, for 15 months - excessive) I observed myself dreaming in Arabic, despite the fact that, just like my enjoy within the elegance, despite the fact that I knew they had been talking in Arabic (in some way I knew) I could not realize it in any respect. This proves it used to be Arabic I wager. That used to be my feeling on the time. :D

Your friends just told you they dream in different languages.

But you're still wondering if we all speak the same language in our thoughts?

No. If you only know English you speak and think and dream in English. If you know Russian you speak and think and dream in Russian. If you know Russian and English you can have both or one in your speech, in your thoughts, and in your dreams.
