Asian markets will sell vacuum packed shelled nuts, some of them are quite good. A little pricey though. If you have a specialty gourmet rip-off store in you area they might have the ones from Italy, which are really good but expensive ($12.00 for a pack?). But the fresh ones are only seasonal fall-winter.

My regular grocer sells vacuum-packed peeled chestnuts from Israel, brand name Gefen, in the "international/kosher foods" aisle; I got them on sale at US$2.00 for a 150gm package.

Fresh chestnuts are only available in the wintertime - from Halloween until mid January - but my regular grocer carries those too, in season.

Its a seasonal nut. Around Christmas time. But other than that in any grocery store or health food store. Or you can order off western nut company. Have them sent to you.
