What is an effective way to improve on vocabulary and grammar?

Read nonfiction books. Keep a dictionary handy. Talk to intelligent people, read, read and read some more. You can try buying books, tapes etc. but that's no fun. When you learn a words use it in conversation. Even if you have to explain it to your audience. Good luck

as for the grammar, im sure there are other websires on the net that offer help in grammar

Or you could try reading what you've written aloud, and see if you've put pauses (ie commas and full stops - that's periods if you're Americano) in appropriate places.
