Yahoo Answers is shutting down on 4 May 2021 (Eastern Time) and the Yahoo Answers website is now in read-only mode. There will be no changes to other Yahoo properties or services, or your Yahoo account. You can find more information about the Yahoo Answers shutdown and how to download your data on this help page.

Has this happened to you? Top Contributors....?

In the last 2 days, I have gone to a lot of trouble answering 3 different questions, with links etc., only to get that 'error 999' thing, making it impossible to submit. So, as an experiment, I copied and saved the answers on my 'drafts' at home, to see if it would work a day later.

I have tried to re-answer those questions several times, and got the same result. Even though other people have been able to answer in between!

What's going on?

Thanx, sometimes the way this site works is mysterious to me! haha

Update:

This is under 'tattoos' because I answer tattoo questions!

Update 2:

I regularly answer questions on tattoos (check them in my profile) with tons of links. I almost always put a link and up to 10 links in an answer. So, why this happens every so often, does not make sense. I'm level 6.

I think this is very strange that it happened to you since you're on Level 6. I know that a while ago Yahoo Answers changed their rules so that Level 1 users could not include links in their answers. They wouldn't get the Error 999 message though, what they done was even worse. They would just mess up the links without saying anything. So for example If I included this link in my answer.

    http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/updat...

They would of done something like this to it, making it impossible to be used now.

    http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/updat...

But then a little while after that they changed the rules again and if any level 1 user tried to include a link in their answer they would get the Error 999 message. I think this is quite silly, but it doesn't affect me though because I know how to avoid the error 999 message.

If I wanted to include a link like this in my answer.

    http://tinypic.com/

I would change it to this.

    http://tiny---pic.com/

Then I would say something like this in my answer. The link above shouldn't have 3 dashes in the middle, I only put it there because Yahoo Answers wouldn't allow me to include the link in my answer. Please remove the 3 dashes to use the link.

    Hope this helps.

Their are two reasons why that may be happening. One the person is on level one and links do not work for them and it also counts on how they type the link in.

It's kind of interesting. A lot of times, if I post an answer that's within guidelines, but it's an answer that's too contravesial, it seems as if those are the times I get "Y!A is unavailable at this time", so I go back and reword it, hit 'submit', and it goes right through. I do, I do, I DO believe in spooks!
