Any one else disgusted with this?

I'm curious how many others of you who, like myself, give a goodly chunk of their time and thought...and many times...research, to answer a question in a thorough, accurate manner, only to discover when you return with this information, that the asker has chosen an answer before you can even post?

Then there are many others who will choose their "Best Answer" based on who answered first!

If the askers are sincere in wanting the best answer available, then why do they not avail themselves of all the days allotted, and all the answers in, before rendering their decisions?

This has me so disgusted...(not for myself, as I answer because I want to help, but time and again I see others who have given solid, clearly straight-forward accurate answers who were passed over for someone with a cutesy answer, or because they chose too quickly)...I am seriously considering withdrawing entirely from this 'community'.

Any others of you who feel this way...or is it just me?

As a matter of fact Bacon, this IS one of my many hobbies, but it may not be much longer. I labored under a misconception...if what you and Kate imply is true...because I thought the askers here were,for the most part, serious about what they were asking. Plenty of nonsense chat rooms are available elsewhere.

Thanks Taylor, and you are right. I had observed what looked suspiciously like that, but since it hadn't happened to me, I didn't mention it.

A P.S. to Kate: I am 72 years old, so my college career has long since passed into history. It is what I learned there and what experiencing life for the ensuing 50 years taught me, that I am here to share.

This is new ground for me as I've not asked before and intended this question as more of a poll to measure the depth of feeling on the topic. Now I have had to choose one answer from among many fine responses.

I chose Rico's answer because his disgust seem to most closely mirror my own.

    Hear, Hear, Granny! Too many evenings have been ultimately wasted when I have taken time to post a concise, precise answer, and after hitting "submit," Y!A tells me that the question has been deleted. Also, oftentimes, in reference to Captain's original gripe, since it may take me 30-45 minutes to post an answer (with the research and thought into it), I'll hit "submit," and Y!A tells me that the question is CLOSED...

    Cap, since I know you, I know you don't take this TOO seriously, but you care about any reference material provided that has YOUR name on it... I feel the same way. Don't leave Y!A... Your presence would be greatly missed, at least by me...

    The ones that annoy me are those where I spend time finding out obscure information from another site (which the asker hasn't bother to do) and then when I post I discover the question has been deleted.....not by AY (I don't think) but by the asker themselves.

    Also I find it annoying when some-one posts a poem (my favourite subject) and asks for an honest response, and help. I am never harsh but I do write what I consider to be a truthful analysis. Then best answer goes to some-one who writes 'Your (sic) awesome' etc.

    However, since I've been on here a couple of years, I simply shrug my shoulders and move on.

    Hopefully , it is just you .

    This is Not a professional forum , just a chit chat board currently

    dominated by teens bored with summer vacation .

    { not all but a huge huge number }

    You are taking this place wayyyyyyyy too seriously .

    Register for college classes and put that "devoted" energy to work someplace more focused .

    This place is where they find out cheats for world of war or what shoes to wear with skinny jeans mostly .

    The serious college / adult poster is rare at this time .

    I completely agree with you. There should be some sort of 'quick-answer' category where those people get what they want without us wasting valuable time by thoroughly answering their questions.

    But you know what really gets me?

    When you answer a question and then some loser comes behind you, rewords your exact answer, and gets Best Answer. D:<

    I don't usually spend quite that long one my answers lol..

    But, if you ever answer one of my questions, I will be sure to make sure you're BA ;) xx
