Help Getting Sims 3 working?

Hi there,

I have installed The Sims three on my laptop, the specs are all OK (2.4GHz, 4GB RAM, 128MB Graphics etc) but it doesn't work. I did a system check at Can You Run It, which says that I need Pixel Shader Version 2 (I have V0.0) and Video Car 3D Acceleration.

Can anybody help me do what I need to do to get this game working. I know it won't be the best of experiences - I'm only doing it on my laptop so that I can take it with me when we go to visit relatives in Europe in a couple of weeks... I'll put it on a (way better) desktop when we get back.

Thanks for all your help!!

Update:

Yeah, I know it's the wrong section, I did it too quickly, just clicked OK, OK, OK...

Pixel shader v2 is very important. When i went to Can You Run It, it told me that was the only thing that failed but then it said (you have v.3) or something. It's the most important thing as the sims 3 will lag a LOT if you don't have the minimum requirements. My laptop gets very very hot and sometimes I have to pause it and let it cool.
