MasterChef Australia: Do you find yourself being more creative in the kitchen since watching the TV show?

As someone who watches MasterChef Australia on Channel Ten (10) do you find yourself being more creative and trying new things out based on the challenges you see on the show?

If so, what have been some of your experiences with new food and recipes?

Any really good achievements in the kitchen? Any disasters?

I don't mind watching the show seeing what ideas they come up with. Poh's second attempt at "Fried Meringue" came up okay after her first disaster.

As long as I cook steak & vegies most nights my grown children are happy. I haven't had many bad cooking episodes for a long time, but still marvel at a cake made from throwing unweighted ingredients together & having it come out yummy.

I wouldn't try anything they have done, that's what a top notch restaurant is for.

Julie will win. You can see in the preview last night when confetti was everywhere, all of the people were gathering around a girl with curly hair.

This is rigged, and just because she cried doesn't mean you can announce her the winner. Why would anyone buy a book that has recipes copied from another book.

Julie doesn't have creativity and she won through sympathy. Having 4 bad nights this week and she still wins it. This is ridiculous. BYe Masterchef forever. This is why i have foxtel and watch other cooking shows rather than Australian because all they care about are Australians and people who look like australians winning the show.

UK Masterchef is definitely better than this crap show now. Because it's not rigged!.

I am absolutely enjoying masterchef and am now serving mums "masterchef" whatever for dinner. It has been fun to try some new things for dinner and certainly put more enjoyment into the nightly ritual.

I tried the pumpkin risotto and we all loved it (although I made it with sweet potato instead for a lower GI).

I also made the choux pastry coffee eclairs but didn't have something to pipe them with so made puffs instead. Also as I don't like coffee I made a hot dark chocolate sauce. It was all a bit bitter it needed something sweet, so I added caramelised apples to the leftovers and it was really yum!

So all in all, we've definitely been more creative in the kitchen and I can't wait til the final - go Julie!!! I love that a mum/home cook who cooks food that I constantly want to try or have cooked myself is in the final 2. :)

I'm already a very good cook (TAFE course) but watching masterChef has made me try different foods that I thought were a bit tricky like fish which I always seemed to overcook.

There is no way I will ever cook lambs brains as I was forced to eat them as a child & hate the taste.

I have been making entrees more often now & cutting down on large main meals.

No disasters as yet but I know i'll stuff something up soon.

Po or Julie ??, it doesn't matter now that jerk Chris gone !!!

    Bon Appetite !!

I find myself relating to the contestants and their style of cooking. Personally, Andre (an eliminated contestant) was a person that appealed to me immensely. His Italian style of cooking has taught me alot about the different approaches and techniques that can be used when cooking Italian - which is my heritage and the food I love most.

I am not much of a cook myself, but by watching MasterChef Australia on Channel 10 I have definitely found myself being more creative and trying more new things. For example - Andre made a lasagna in the challenge where they had to feed the crew on board a ship. Just looking at it and how he made it - I was inspired.

I have not yet cooked anything, but in the future a career in cooking I will be considering. I love photography, and I admire all the contestants and their uniquely beautiful presentation of the food - and to capture it on camera would also be amazing.

Not only has Masterchef Australia inspired me to cook more food, it has inspired/brought out my love for photographing food. I am 15 and this show is an inspiration for any young person like me with aspirations to be a chef or have a career where you are associated with the food industry.

Thank you Channel 10, for a fantastic series. All of the contestants are going to grace the food industry outside of the show - well done.

Maofi l, You said it all, i completely agree with you. The UK version is so much more professional, fairer, and it's all about the food. I cannot believe the **** up they all made when the challenge was to bake pies. good Lord, such a basic easy task! Julie, should have been brilliant at pies with all her homeliness. I knock up pastry and bake pies as an easy option regularly.

The Aussie one is rigged for sure. Disappointing! Oh almost forgot, no, i haven't been inspired to cook with more imagination. I really enjoy cooking and like to experiment anyway.

Star TV has this habit to rigged its reality shows by showing unnecessary weeping and unbound joyness. Now, in a cookery show such gimmicks are not required but Star still uses it. That's why I don't watch it.

Yes it has totally inspired me.

I have taken to cooking my meals at home - home cooking is such a fantastic new concept particularly the sweating over everyones plates, half dishing the meals and crying consistently in the kitchen every night and taken to batting my eyelids at them for reassurance that my disasters are fantastic. The family is loving it and have voted me their top chef :)

You see cooking is my passion and I'd like to do this for everyone every night .... I think they'd be so anema'd by my inspirational dishes
