Investment strategy with zero capital gains tax?

Like many people, in 2008 I had enough capital losses to carry forward that I will probably not have to pay capital gains taxes again for many years, Perhaps ever.

How does this change my choice of investments going forward?

What you are going to need are some capital gains to offset those previous losses. Otherwise if you are unmarried it is going to take you forever to recoup your losses, even if you are married. You can use them against short term gains as well as long term gains. If before you were somewhat hesitant to day trade or swing trade because of the tax implications, perhaps now is the time to rethink that strategy. Good luck. We all are going to need some to get back to where we once were.
