    OMG yes. I think Kevin Rudd completely misrepresented himself leading up to the Federal Election. Peter Costello did such a good job as Treasurer. It's a shame Howard did not step down. Our economy would not be so bad if the government had not sold us off to China. With the handouts, the money spent does not stay in Australia bcs everything is imported here. He thinks he is friggin santa claus giving away out money to other countries. What new jobs has he created? None. Our borders are not as secure as before. The boat people cost us millions of dollars. There must be a better was to handle immigration issues. And our pensioners are going without medication, electricity & food bcs of how little they recieve. Our education system is a joke.. And health care... Where has all our money gone???

    Sorry that I'm all over the place, but wher do you start?

    Krudd is digging us a hole that the previous government spent years filling in. Splashing money around to you and I is nice, but pointless and actually in the long term... they'll end up taxing us more than the $900+ they have dished out.

    I wrote a question (which was ripped off the answers website for being insulting), the night that this woeful government won the election. I mentioned that we were doomed before the economic crisis came and why... see below:

    * Laptop computers for every student from years 9 - 12. This, I am sorry to say, is absurd and a waste of money. It will not assist in making smarter Australians. Most people would agree that you would be hard pressed to find a kid at the age 12 that can't use a computer. Yet, try and find me one that can write properly without a spell checker, do advanced maths calculations without aid of a calculator.

    Furthermore who is responsible if the computer gets viruses, hardware malfunctions, software maintenance, loss of laptop, damage to laptop... the list goes on... WASTE OF MONEY!

    * Emissions trading scheme... WTF is going on there, we've already seen a back flip on this one. Why? Because it is going to destroy our economy, mining jobs will go, industry will go. In an environment where industry in Australia is already thinning due to more the more competitive Asian product costs.

    Not to mention that Australia accounts for approximately 0.1% of world greenhouse gas emissions and yet we long to be the first. Ridiculous! Further to this, there is strong argument to suggest that greenhouse gas emissions are barely enough (even at current levels) to be causing global warming (hence the now move to call it climate change). Read http://business.theage.com.au/business/wongs-clima...

    Now, what we are looking at in Australia is several infrastructure needs that are inadequate that really need immediate resolutions. Water & transport, in a down turn we should be investing and borrowing for things to build the future. Dams, rail etc... We should be boosting investment in new local technologies and pave a way for when the recession is over.

    We have wasted in excess of 50 Billion AUD on having people buy holidays overseas, gambling and foreign made consumer goods. Nowhere near enough money is directed at addressing the needs of the future... And now it seems that to fund the stupidity, the government will be putting strain on the already underfunded public health system by scrapping the health insurance rebate.

    Honestly I could go on and on about the abomination that is the labor govt like, how they keep spinning doom instead of finding ways to boost morale through a well thought out plan for the future. All this govt is about is keeping the lower socio-economic vote and not about a future worth living in this country!!!

    Peter Costello and John Howard must look at this current government and cry

    They have absolutely no idea what is going on

    Everybody gets $900 and the economy will ride out the recession

    No

    Now they are taking away the private health insurance rebate from the so called 'well off'

    Why

    'Because everyone has to do their bit' they say

    They are borrowing close to 300 billion dollars to build and buy things and then take away a subsidy that ensures that our public health system doesn't collapse!

    No idea

    Taking away subsidy for

    private obstetricians

    private health insurance

    IVF treatment

    And then they tell us that everyone has to do their bit!

    They are out of control

    Borrowing with no way of paying it back!
