Both SanDisk and Lexar publish good image recovery programs ... some even come as a bonus when you buy certain of their cards.

That said, there is a reason pros download their images after every day of shooting (and format the card before using it again) and have many smaller cards (like maybe 8- 2GB cards) and they NEVER delete images on the card while they are still shooting with it. Deleting images can cause the image index file to become corrupted. I spent nine and a half weeks under sail in the Caribbean last summer and shoot over 18GB of images. All were moved to my notebook computer and CD backups were made of all of them ... on board the vessel.

I have tested the Lexar recovery program and it works well and it works fast. You will need a card reader to use it however, since depending upon the cameras battery to have enough energy to complete the recovery can cause additional problems

  • im asuming ur transfering this from somewhere?
