living comfortably without teeth?

Hi,

My dad has only his bottom teeth left. I was wondering if he can lead a normal and comfortable lifestyle with only the bottom set of his teeth.

He has tried dentures but they do not stay because his gums are too hard to conform to the mold of the dentures.

Thank you for your help!

your dads biggest problem will be digestive. Food is supposed to be chewed up before it passes into the stomach. If he is swallowing large amounts of unchewed food this really puts a strain on the digestive system with all of the gastric juices trying to properly prepare the food for digestion and absorption of vitamins and minerals. Also I can't believe it will do his confidence and self esteem any good if he will be embarrassed about his appearance. If he were able to have a couple of implants placed they dentures would fit like a glove and he would be able to chew anything. I wish him luck.
