Buyers and sellers trade on news, earnings, technical and fundamental analysis and other events where they see opportunity to make money in up or down markets, or exit their position when risk seems too high.

Penny stocks are loosely categorized companies with share prices of below $5 and with market caps of under $200 million. They are sometimes referred to as "the slot machines of the equity market" because of the money involved. years ago it used to be that owners of large amounts of stock would buy and sell to play the game of moving it up and down so they could purchase the stock at low prices, sell at high and make a mint. That's against the law now, I believe.

They say the economy is no longer tied to the stock market. If that's what you were asking.
