God existed before humans and invention. So no He is not just figment of our imaginations, nor is He one of our inventions.

Yes and no. The best way to think about it is: Is Quantum Physics a human invention?

It is a human attempt to describe something natural.

Some definitions of what and who God is, yes it is a human invention. Although the true essence of God, a Divine Being consisting of unconditional love, that is in no way or even a possibility of human invention.

Yes. God was created back when there was no such thing as law and order, science, and technology. Now that we have all of this (somewhat to a degree) it is quite clear that humans invented God because they could not explain things in life, nor could they stop people from killing and stealing each other.

I personally believe god is real and was his own creator, but if God is a invention of man, then that is because we as humans need something to focus our infinite curiosity, otherwise we could never carry out basic tasks because they would be constantly wondering. At least with God we have a belief and a reason to exist.

Well you either believe in it or not, theres not hurt in believing in god if he doesn't exist since the bible only teaches you how to be a good person. Its not worth it live a life thinking theres no god just cause of a few doubts. You'll become a better person in the end whether he really exists or not..

somehow i think so because you have to look back in times and the religion was like everything , but i still believe in it as always i did :]

Everything we know about God has been told to us by fellow human beings. It is bound to be filtered and colored by human perceptions. It will also be shaped by the motives of those who do the telling. I used the phrase "fellow human beings" advisedly. It highlights that we are all fallible.

Although some people take the Bible to be the literal word of God, and Mohamed claimed to have written down direct dictation from Allah, these claims are only assertions of authority, backed by nothing outside themselves. We can choose to accept, or reject the claims. I reject the claims of divine authorship, first of all because the very idea of a supernatural being strikes me as highly implausible. Secondly, the idea of a supernatural being with a special interest in human beings strikes me as even less worthy of serious consideration.....

I think so. Considering how many times the bible has been rewritten or amended..

Humans need him to be &say what they want - different translations change who he is. Fundamentalists are a prime example of "inventing" God.

Yes. Its like when people of long long time ago believed in different gods when there was no explanation for something. For example the god of rain .. they didnt know how the rain was form so they gave it an explanation.

Same now, people dont know exactly what is life or how where we created, and what happens when we die so there is the explanation ..so they say god.
