Has anyone ever heard of the (girl's) name "Quarnian"?
Certainly not thinking of it for my future daughter, but I just read it in a book ("Malice Aforethought" by Francis Iles) and have never heard it before. It also isn't in any baby name database that I can find.
My fiance said that it was common for British people to give their children surnames as first names, and a Google search shows that some people have Quarnian has a surname.
Just wondering if it's been heard before? Thanks!
Update: I just found an author who named his heroine Quarnian but he also got it from the Isles novel :)
Iles, sorry

No - and your fiance is mistaken about it being a British habit. I've rarely if ever encountered it in the UK, but I often see Americans suggesting things I consider surnames as first names on here.
