Why my internet speed increased drastically?

I am from India. i have an 256kbps unlimited internet connection. I used to get 32kBps download speed usually. But suddenly one night it increased upto 102kBps. I enjoyed this speed for two weeks. I have downloaded a lot of movies. Later i observed that my pc was infected with amvo.exe virus. I removed the virus. but the speed continued for two weeks. Usually i never shut down my pc. But after two weeks there was a power failure in my colony and I could not connect to internet for 2days. After these two days my internet speed was back again to 32kBps. Can anyone tell me the reason. I dont even have the traces of that virus file. I strongly believe that this virus increased my internet speed? Is that true? Can anyone make this clear to me? I want that speed back.

It has absolutely nothing to do with the virus. If anything, the virus probably slowed your system down. Even the most advanced virii, such as trojens, dialers or worms, only steal bandwidth, they don't deliver it. Only your ISP can deliver increased bandwidth.

So why did it dissappear? Your ISP is probably upgrading their servers and was performing a test of the new servers. 2-weeks is an ample ammount of time to perform such tests. They probably relied on feedback from their customers to see how their new servers would respond to real-world conditions and daily use.

The tests probably ended, and so your speeds returned to normal. The other alternative is that if this only effected your torrent downloads, you may have connected to a very fast torrent server, that is no longer opperating. Torrents are only as fast as the slowest server. That means that a slow server can seveerly limit download or upload speeds. Torrent servers startup and shutdown all the time, because many aren't legal.

I would contact your ISP and ask why your speed increased, and if they have any plans to increase it again the future. Most likely, they know about the increase in speed and will be able to answer your question. It was definately not caused by a virus. If you mention that to them, you'll only confuse them.

    Best of luck. :-)

I think it has something to do with you downloading lots of movies. I don't think a virus would increase your internet speed, they are not good for your computer!

    Hope this helps.

end being affordable and purchase provider from a sturdy isp... in no way heard of BSNL notwithstanding it sounds like your isp. in the experience that your downloading is slow its because of the fact your isp has constrained your dl speed on your modem.. google the thank you to crack your particular modem or there are some classes available that could want that can assist you.. my suitable advice is end being lazy hoping somebody will supply the respond on a golden platter and seem for it your self
