Tarnex problem- I used Tarnex on a silver plated tray. It worked?

great but I made the mistake of taking longer than the 2 minutes, so it turned a strange dark shade?? I washed it with a soft sponge and soapy water and it did help Is there anything else I can do?

Get silver polish. It's that weird cotton stuff that you can use to clean a flute. You rip off a piece and rub it on the plated tray then buff it with a dry cloth. Shiny and good as new.

First mistake, using Tarnex. Quite a few years ago, my wife tried it and ruined a good piece of silver. It removed the patina and made it have a dull finish thereafter. I don't know anyone who recommends its use.

You might try a homemade solution of hot water with salt and baking soda, if you can find a large enough "aluminum" pan (like a turkey roaster) or a large tub and line it with aluminum foil.

Here's a link on how to do this.....

And here's a video, this one is even better, it expains how it works......

Hope it helps, this is what I do and it's always worked for me.
