In Australia what qualifications do I need to be an Early Childhood Intervention worker/assistant?

I found a job ad which saids I need a tertiary degree in Speech Pathology, Occupation Therapy, Physiotherapy or Early Education is it possible to be an assistant with a Certificate in Disability or Children's Services

Update:

I do have my WWC card, but I've tried getting in touch with them and they never got back to me.

The job I found is for an Early Intervention Worker not an assistant.

It may depend on who the job is through DHS or in the private sector.

DHS tends to be fairly strict in ensuring their staff are suitably qualified, that is not to say the private sector doesn't scrutinize their staff either, or demand equally qualified employees.

Does the job state what the duties will be, such as developing, planning and implementing programs, or liaising with other agencies, clients and their families. This may give you a clearer picture of what they are looking for.

However it is quite possible to be an assistant in early intervention, but given they are asking for specific qualifications means the applicant must be able to perform specific duties.

You could contact them and ask what is the minimum requirement is to apply for the job.

Do you have a WWC? If you don't go to the post office and get a WWC form fill it in and send off with a passport sized photo. This will help your chance of getting a job too.

All people through out Australia who work with anyone under the age of 18, MUST have a WWC Working With Children Check, it costs about $70 (which may vary from state to state) and it lasts for 5 years, as per usual the photo ID is horrid. Check in your state for full details.

I wish you luck if you apply for the job.
