If you really need to know you should contact the doctor who did the examination and ask. However, I would assume the dr would have given your wife all of the necessary information when she was there.

    39 weeks + 3 days pregnant

Estimated fetal weight is 3.64 kg

cervix is 2-3 cm dilated and 70% effaced

baby is in a posterior position (which is what you want)

As for when your wife will probably deliver there is no way to tell. She can stay 3 cm dilated for a week, or she could dilate fully within the next 12 hours and deliver. There is absolutely no way to tell when it is going to happen.

What will happen next is that sometime within the next week or two (baby can be late you know!) your wife will go into active labour - contractions will start, etc and she will deliver. It could be a fast delivery or it could be a long one - again, no way of knowing.

Best just to relax about the entire thing, have a bag packed for the hospital, keep phone numbers at hand, and ask doctor at what stage of labour she is supposed to go to the hospital.

    Good luck.

7o% effaced means how thin the cervix is, so basically it means that it doesn't have much more to soften or thin out.

As your wife is already about 3cm dilated ( how far the cervix is open ) she sounds as though she is well on the way to starting labour.

Make sure you pack some massage oil in the labor bag as posterior babies can give mum backache during labor. I have four children and two were posterior.

Posterior babies lie head down with their back against mums spine, which causes a lot of backache when laboring.

I found counter pressure from my husband very helpful.

The wellness midsection won't save you based on your effacement or dilation until the document desperate to set off or destroy your water. they'll save you in case you're having contractions lasting 30 to 60 seconds each 3-4 minutes. each start is diverse even for the comparable woman. wish you get to pass quickly yet of direction it would desire to be yet another couple of weeks.
