Via vs Intel vs AMD??

I am getting a new laptop. It must be super portable. I am a Mac fanatic so was thinking of getting the MacBook Air. But I am now wondering if it's such a good buy. I already have a larger laptop for the heavy stuff so don't need anything too fantastic. I am now looking at the HP 2133 mini note. Or another HP laptop.
I am not a techie person.
My question is:
What is the difference between the Intel (Air), Via (2133) and AMD (HP) processors and should they influence my decision??

There is no wrong or write answers for this question.
I have a Intel Processor in my desktop and a AMD processor in my laptop.
I have found my laptop runs much cooler with the AMD processor in it but this will very from laptop to laptop.
As fare as my desktop I much prefer the Intel processor.
