I just found out a friend is a registered sex offender, where can I find out what exactly he was charged with?
I know he is a registered sex offender for, but all it lists is : sex offense 1st degree. and I looked up what that meant but it could mean atleast 4 things. I know he went to jail for 2 years for the crime, so I know it is recorded what exactly he did, and would like to know if there is a website I can check that will tell me what exactly he was convicted of.
I already know what the offense means, it could mean rape with a minor, rape with a weapon, or a gang bang. I want to know specifically which crime he actually did. (oh and it could also mean sex with someone under the age of 13, or atleast 4 years age difference). I was just wondering if there was a court website where I could read the transcript of the case or anything like that.

If he is your friend why don't you sit down and ask him. Tell him that as a friend and not judging, you would like to know what happened. I am sure it is hard for him walking around with this stigma and since you are such a good and forgiving friend, it will be a weight off his shoulders that you know. Then maybe he can have someone to talk to about it and about what he is struggling with now because of it.

Most law enforcement agencies maintain a sex offender registry. Go to their website, click on the registry link & enter his name. It may offer a little more details other than 1st degree.
