Anyone experience lunch/ dinner at WDW Rest?

My hubby, son (almost 2 years old ) & I will stay 9 nights at WDW & have MYW + Dining package. Means we could try out different kinds of kid-friendly restaurants at WDW 4 times (due to 2 table service each time).

Could anyone share experience in dining at following restaurants at lunch or dinner time pls.? I have read the reviews, it seems the breakfast is the best concerning characters/ entertainment, service, rest. decoration, & food. But unfortunately, my husband is not a breakfast-type person. He can NOT eat in the morning. So I think we have to use the table service for either lunch/ dinner. The restaurants that sound interesting to me are:

Chef Mickey

Mickey's Backyard BBQ

Ohana, Disney's Spirit of Aloha Dinner Show

Playhouse Disney's Play 'n' Dine

Liberty Tree Tavern

Crystal Palace

Hoop Dee Doo Revue

Coral Reef

I wish I could try ALL of them, but if I spend 2 table service each time, we won't have any meal for the rest of the week. Upgrade is too expensive.

Update:

****************** Which ones of those restaurants on my list require 2 credits? *************

Coral Reef is amazing, with the fish tanks right next to you it's breath taking. You can point out all the fishes to you little one and have fun trying to find them all. Only problem is that it's a seafood resturant, and unless your kid likes seafood, I wouldn't take him there.

    I have been to ALL

Chef Mickey's is good and it had the traditional group of Characters. It is a buffet. The kids would love to ride the monarail afterwards back to the Magic Kingdom.

Make sure you write the amount of each meal on your receipt...because your copy will say $0.00. And when you get home at it up.....you will have saved a BUNDLE!!! Keep track of meal credits mistakes happen and they will make a correction at the conceirge at your hotel.

Table service restaruants book up FAST please make your reservations atleast 180 days before departure you will be unable to walk into these restarunts to eat unless you have reservations. The counter service restaruants do not require reservations but get very crowded and busy. You get more for your money if you eat at the table service restarunts and it still takes the same amount of time. Do not forget the camera and the autograph books!

If you have little girls you must make a trip to the Bibbity Bobbity Boutique in Cinderella's Castle where your little Princess can get her very special makeover.

Mickey's Backyard bar-b-que is a free for all with food, fun, characters and kids! ----parent beware

Spirit of Aloha has NO Characters it however does have some wonderful Polynesian dancers and fire one amazing fire dancer. Why not marketed to kids there were many there of all ages who really seem to enjoy themselves. My dd (six at the time LOVED it) So did my picky husband.

Playhouse Disney Play and Dine at Hollywood and Vine is a MUST for famlies. Jo Jo and Goliath was there and so was Quincy from the Little Einsteins

Liberty Tree Tavern (dinner) had the characters. We did this on the first night...the food is similar to a traditional Thanksgiving Feast. The honey with the rolls is to DIE for!

We saw Minnie...Goofy.....Chip and Dale all dressed in Colonial Americam garb

Crystal Palace is a all you can eat buffet with the characters from the Hundred Acre Wood Pooh.....Tigger....Eyore....and Piglet......do not miss if you have young kids or children who love Pooh Bear

    Hoop Dee Doo Revue....WONDERFUL!!!

Reminded me a old fashion traveling show with corny but funny jokes. Approprate for ALL ages. DD and the hubby LOVED IT!

Coral Reef very romantic but child friendly. The tables are seated around the aqarium. You dine as fish swim by. They give you a fish guide when you sit down. The little kiddos love to try and figure out what fish is what. Ask for a table near the tank.

If your booking for late August or September you may be able to get the free basic dining plan and then upgrade fro the cost of the original plan.

You are going to have the BEST TIME!!!!!!

First, when you go to a character meal, even if it isn't your child's birthday, tell them it is. Each character will make a point to come to your table and pay special attention to you child(ren).

They really don't care if it isn't your birthday, I personally asked, and was told by the phone rep that it didn't matter.

My fav of favs is Crystal Palace. A wonderfully elegant looking, very crisp and fresh atmosphere; as if you're inside a wonderful garden palace of some kind.

Also, Chef Mickey's is a must do! Very busy and bustling though so don't expect the meal to be a quiet one. Lots and LOTS of fun though.

The other restaurant that I love but you didn't mention was Boma in the Animal Kingdom Lodge. Not a character meal, but if you want to experience something out of the ordinary this is one of the best places you'll ever try.

Hope I was of some help.

Enjoy you stay at the world!

My kids loved seeing the fish at the Coral Reef and loved meeting all of their favorite Winnie the Pooh characters at the Crystal Palace. My daughter even tried to feed Eeyore! Have you thought about the Ohana character breakfast? My kids love the breakfast parade. Stitch picked my daughter out of the crowd to help lead the parade. It was so cute!

    Have a wonderful time!
